Cue the Golden Girls theme song and bust out the cheesecake because we’re here to help you plan the ultimate Galentine’s Day party for the gals. While we won’t turn our noses up at good-looking dates, dinner reservations, flowers, and chocolate, we can’t say no to a night with the besties.
Traditionally, Galentine’s Day is celebrated the day before Valentine’s Day, but since it’s not an “official” holiday you won’t find many Hallmark cards dedicated to celebrating female friendship.
Just because it’s not officially on the calendar, doesn’t mean we can’t use it as an excuse to celebrate!
As we shared, Galentine’s Day isn’t an official holiday (yet). In fact, its origin story is as made up as the holiday itself. Galentine’s Day was founded by the fictional character Leslie Knope from the hit television show Parks and Recreation.
In season two of the show, Leslie shares what Galentine’s Day is all about:
“Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”
And we can’t think of a more divine way to spend a day…
Perhaps even more fun than having a party is planning the party. Does your squad love a pajama-clad movie night? Or maybe an evening spent discovering new wine and cheese pairings is more your thing. Regardless of your group's idea of a good time, we've got the checklist ready to plan the ultimate girl's night.
Choose Your Theme
You could pay homage to Leslie Knope’s vision and host a fun brunch at home or away or you could create something more tailored you and your friend group. A sleepover, pizza and movie marathon, cheese and wine pairings, desserts and champagne, or even Valentine’s Day are all crowd-pleasers.
Invites
Now that you have your theme in mind, it’s time to create your guest list and send out the invitations. Remember to include the theme so guests can come prepared. For example, if you’re hosting a sleepover, your guests might have items that can make the party even better-like your old high school yearbook or pictures from college spring break.
Atmosphere
We would argue that a party isn’t a party unless it lookslike a party! That’s where we really shine. Our Valentine’s Day Shop has the most adorable décor and accessories to make your Galentine’s Day complete.
Everything from adorable garlands and festive balloons to tableware and dessert stations, we’ve got Galentine’s (and Valentine’s) Day covered.
Food & Drinks
A girl has gotta eat. Plan a menu that pleases a crowd’s appetite and their eyes. If you’re throwing a brunch-themed Galentine’s Day party, then whip together a heart-shaped waffle bar. Or if it’s pizza night, make heart-shaped pizzas with different topping combinations.
A grazing table or charcuterie cups are great ways to feed a crowd and leave plenty of room for creativity with taste combinations. Consider cutting fruits and vegetables into hearts to make it extra festive.
Let’s not forget the bar. Stock up on plenty of drinks for both your boozy buddies and those who choose to stay sober.
Gifts & Goodies
We know the gift of friendship is great and all, but sometimes a real gift is nice too, right? We have some awesome suggestions sure to give your besties all the feels.
Snag some amazing gift boxes and party favors your gals will cherish like this cosmetic bag or lip care set. Or go all out with this champagne-themed Bubbly Box.
